I have been talking so much about gaming and role-playing and writing lately. Why am I doing this? What is my reason behind it?
I believe we should allow more play, and therefore more joy, into our lives. Learning through play–that which children do and many of us have forgotten.
(Role)play is a part of me and gives me so much joy that I want to share it with others. Putting myself in other people’s shoes is a skill used far too seldom.
Because I know and have experienced myself what amazing changes can happen when you get completely involved in a game. Because there is a bit of “me” in every character.
Through the playful element, many things can lose the terror they hold over me. I can make attempts in a safe environment without my actions having real consequences. Even if I’m not a born leader, I can try out this role, to learn and grow in it. I can work out conflicts and practice with it.
In general, I just love creating a story together, never knowing exactly where it will take me. It’s teamwork! It’s creative. It’s exciting. And it can also be very intense.
